Not All Conveyor Pipe
is Created Equal
Things to know when buying
your chip conveyor pipe:
- What
grade of steel am I getting?
- How
long was it stored and where?
- What
thickness is it? .....1/4" or is it only .240"?
- What
kind of weld? .Spiral, ERW, or seamless?
- Is
the type of weld ideal for my application?
- Is
it inspected is before shipment?
- Can
you chamfer the ends for field welding?
- Can
I get a mill test certificate?
- What
is the allowable deviation on diameter, roundness, and
thickness?
- Can
I get special sizes or wall thicknesses or material hardness?
Pipe quality affects conveying
capacity, operating costs, and installation costs. Out of
round pipe
will be difficult to install, dented pipe will wear faster, and
improper
welding will cause chip damage. This is why Mektek has
stringent
requirements for chip pipe and why we inspect every foot of pipe sold.
We stock pipe in all sizes
and can fabricate to non-standard diameters. We have access to a wide
range
of specialty pipe including heavy wall and abrasion resistant
pipe.
Ask the right questions
and you'll be surprised to find that....... "not all pipe is created
equal".
